About May<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

May Chook (they\/she) is a Toronto-based event and project professional specializing in sustainability and social impact.<\/strong> Born and raised in Malaysia, they make-happen projects that empower the community, raise funds for impactful initiatives, and make the world a more joyful place. They have\u00a010 years of experience in various industries especially in a fast-growth or start-up environment. Leading full-scope projects and events, they build and improve systems around operations and cross-functional processes to support long-term organizational growth.<\/span><\/p>

May started their career as a creative music facilitator, primarily working with systematically-marginalized groups through arts organizations such as VIBE Arts. They have worked as the Implementer at arts charity Jamii, made-happen signature events and programs and improved operations efficiency. Also a coffee enthusiast, they have worked in the specialty coffee industry as a barista, cafe manager, as well as a project manager for an international coffee competition – Ordna Event Agency’s The Barista League.<\/p>

While they haven\u2019t turned their love of cats to a job yet, their orange cat Caramel loves to snuggle on their lap when they are working or studying from home.\u00a0<\/p>

May is a proud member of Centre for Social Innovation (CSI), Meeting Professionals International (MPI), Project Management Institute (PMI), and the moderator of Toronto Coffee Community. They are currently working towards their PMP designation.\u00a0<\/p>
