Urban Climate Alliance

The Urban Climate Alliance (UCA) is a network of municipal-level environmental nonprofits working to advance climate action in their communities. The UCA consists of: Toronto Environmental Alliance, Ecology Ottawa, Environment Hamilton, and Citizens Environment Alliance of Southwestern Ontario.

The UCA proposed to host the inaugural Ontario Climate Summit,  a 3-day conference in Toronto to bring climate activists from across Ontario to connect, build skills, and collaborate to drive inclusive, effective, sustainable, and coordinated climate action in Ontario’s municipalities.

The Challenge

The UCA is a grassroots alliance formed by four organizations. Despite having an established history since 2016, the alliance was having their first multi-day conference. The UCA needed support in project management, decision-making facilitation, outreach, budget management, participant stipend management, travel coordination, and, of course, conference planning.

The conference’s dynamic program involved keynote reception featuring former Toronto Mayor and environmentalist David Miller, full-day program with workshops, and guided tours to environmentally significant sites.
